The submerged temples of Chandori!

About 25kms from Nashik in Maharashtra is a quiet village called Chandori. It suddenly rose to fame a news article which mentioned that some submerged temples had emerged from the Godavari river basin due to the drought in the region. These temples were about 300 years old built during the Peshwa – era.

The curiosity arose to understand as to why would somebody build this a temple in the river bed in the first place? Was there a dam built later on that changed the situation? Did the river change its course?. These questions led the expedition to the place.

On reaching we found the water released from the dam again, submerging the temples again.
